Our Top 5 Best Matte Black Cars for 2024

Last Updated October 17, 2024

Matte black cars are some of the coolest vehicles out there. Like something out of the Bat Cave or Darth Vader’s garage, matte black cars give off a stealthy “badass” swagger, turning heads wherever they go.

Back in the day, you’d have to go aftermarket for a matte black paint job on your Mercedes or Lambo.

Today, there’s no shortage of cars that offer matte black paint straight from the factory.

The only problem? A lot of these matte finishes are special options that aren’t advertised by the OEM. You have to dig through the OEM’s website or physically go to the dealership to learn about special matte black colors.

To make things easier for you, we’ve compiled a TOP FIVE list of our favorite matte black colors below.

Obviously there are more matte black cars out there than those listed below, but we tried to focus on colors that are widely available and aren’t limited run special editions to make things more accessible for our readers. Enjoy!

2024 Huracan Evo Spyder in Nero Nemesis Matte Finish Paint

1. 2024 Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder in “Nero Nemesis”

Lamborghini’s Huracán Evo Spyder wears matte black paint better than any other vehicle available right now. The matte finish accentuates the sharp angles and aerodynamic lines of the Huracán, creating a stealthy, low-profile aesthetic that contrasts beautifully with the car’s high-performance capabilities. Matte black absorbs light rather than reflecting it, adding depth to the car’s contours and making it look more dynamic and powerful even when it’s stationary.

Additionally, the matte black finish complements the carbon fiber details and other design elements that emphasize the Huracán’s focus on precision and speed. The subtlety of the color elevates the luxury factor without being overly flashy, making it an excellent choice for those who appreciate sophistication paired with raw performance. The combination of Lamborghini’s design and matte black paint results in a car that exudes both style and strength.

Mercedes-AMG G 63 in MANUFAKTUR Night Black Magno paint.

2. 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 in “MANUFAKTUR Night Black Magno”

It was incredibly difficult choosing between this vehicle and the Huracan, but ultimately we had to make a choice. Make no mistake though, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 in “MANUFAKTUR Night Black Magno” is hardly runner-up material. A souped-up version of the classic “G-Class” SUV, the AMG G63 is arguably at its best in a matte black finish.

The “MANUFAKTUR Night Black Magno” matte finish on the 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 gives the SUV an unmistakably bold and imposing presence. This stealthy, non-reflective paint accentuates the G63’s boxy, iconic shape, adding a modern, military-like edge to its rugged design.

The matte black finish contrasts beautifully with the vehicle’s chrome or blacked-out accents, enhancing the aggressive grille, muscular wheel arches, and robust stance. It also conveys a sense of exclusivity and luxury while maintaining the G-Class’s off-road capability. This finish exudes power, refinement, and performance, making the G63 even more eye-catching and unique.

BMW M4 Competition Coupe in Frozen Black Metallic

3. 2025 BMW M4 Competition Coupé in “Frozen Black Metallic”

BMW’s “Frozen” matte finishes have been popular for over a decade now, with frozen black metallic remaining a top choice for performance spec BMWs like the 2024 BMW M4 Competition Coupé.

The Frozen Black Metallic paint on the M4 exudes a sense of performance-driven elegance and sophistication. The sleek, matte-finished metallic paint enhances the car’s sculpted, aerodynamic lines, creating a striking contrast between light and shadow. This color amplifies the M4 Coupé’s aggressive stance and long, low silhouette, emphasizing its dynamic design without being overly flashy.

Frozen Black Metallic offers a subtle shimmer, giving the car a refined look that complements its high-performance character. The dark finish pairs beautifully with the car’s carbon fiber accents, aggressive front grille, and quad exhaust tips, creating a balanced fusion of luxury and sportiness. This color choice elevates the M4 Competition’s already commanding presence, making it a perfect blend of exclusivity, power, and style.

2025 Range Rover SV in Obsidian Black Satin paint

4. 2025 Range Rover SV in “Obsidian Black Satin”

If you want a matte black SUV with a bit of a softer edge, this might be a better choice than the intimidating G-Wagen.

The 2025 Range Rover SV in Obsidian Black satin finish offers a striking balance of elegance and rugged sophistication. The satin finish gives the Obsidian Black a smooth, refined texture that contrasts with the traditional high-gloss finishes, making the SUV’s strong, sculpted lines stand out more prominently. This muted, non-reflective surface enhances the SV’s minimalist yet luxurious design, allowing its imposing silhouette and distinct details—such as the bold grille and sleek LED lighting—to take center stage.

The Obsidian Black satin finish also emphasizes the vehicle’s premium character, creating a sense of quiet confidence rather than flashy ostentation. Paired with the Range Rover’s chrome or black accents, it highlights a blend of modern design and timeless luxury, making the SV look as commanding in urban environments as it does in more adventurous settings.

2024 Aston Martin DBX 707 in Satin Obsidian Black

5. 2024 Aston Martin DBX 707 in “Jet Black” Satin

Let’s get real — James Bond would never be caught dead in an SUV, Aston Martin or not. But if 007 just HAD to jump in a DBX 707… he’d probably opt for the satin “Jet Black” option as his color of choice.

The 2024 Aston Martin DBX 707 in satin “Jet Black” carries an air of understated power and refinement. The satin finish provides a soft, muted sheen that accentuates the DBX 707’s bold design, from its pronounced front grille to its sculpted rear and sleek side panels. Rather than drawing attention with gloss, the finish subtly enhances the SUV’s sharp lines, lending it a modern, stealth-like appearance.

The Jet Black satin paint also complements the car’s carbon fiber accents and metallic details, allowing those features to stand out more distinctly. This color choice avoids flashiness while maintaining an undeniable presence, blending Aston Martin’s luxury with a sense of restrained performance. It’s a refined look for a performance SUV that’s meant to be seen but not in an obvious way.

Like we said in the intro, these are just the easiest factory matte finishes to get right now — there are definitely more options out there if you count special editions and limited runs.

New matte black options get announced every so often on the various automotive publications, so if you want to stay up to date on what’s available, we recommend setting up a Google Alert for the phrase “matte paint” so you get any new announcements sent straight to your inbox.

I have the Nero Nemesis Huracan Coupe 2022. However, I put a matte wrap on it which I just coated with your matte wrap coating in the past week. So far so good, and after I took it out for a spin it seems to be repelling the regular dirt that would usually show up after the first drive (after a wash).

Very cool! Would love to see a pic — we’d even feature it on our social media if that’s alright.
