Joining the ranks of several other OEMs, Dodge of Chrysler has released the Viper SRT and Challenger SRT Hellcat in matte finishes. In their service bulletin they’ve recommended Dr. Beasley’s matte finish products to safely clean and protect these matte finishes.
Over time these surfaces like the matte black Challenger hood can spot and fade causing irreversible damage if they are not regularly cleaned and protected. Don’t mistake that statement for matte finishes being fragile, they’re just as durable as glossy finishes. Stains and light damage can be removed from matte finishes like they can from glossy finishes using a matte specific cleanser. Yet if the damage is too extensive, the remaining options are limited compared to glossy finishes.
Cleaning a car with a matte finish is no different than a glossy car. Using safe car washing techniques like the two bucket wash method, some soft plush pads to clean the car with Matte Body Wash, and dry the car with microfiber towels. To protect the matte surface, use Matte Paint Coating on the Dodge Viper or Hellcat after washing the car but before drying it. When applied to a clean wet car, Matte Paint Coating uses the water as a catalyst to bond to the paint for up to 12 months. Our Matte Final Finish is used to wipe down the car in between car washes to maintain a pristine looking finish. Matte Paint Cleanser on the other hand is used to remove those hard to remove contaminants like water spots, tar, and sap.
