This past weekend a restored 1956 Mercury XM-Turnpike Cruiser — a rare 1-of-1 concept car — won the Amelia Island Award at the 2024 Amelia Concours d’Elegance after a full detail from a team led by Dr. Beasley’s Chief Education Officer Mike Phillips using exclusively Dr. Beasley’s products.
Neglected to the point of decay following its cross-country tour in 1956, it was restored in 2022 by Tom Maruska and sold to the American Muscle Car Museum in Melbourne, Florida. Interested in entering the vehicle into The Amelia Concours d’Elegance, Ed Dedick from the AMCM contacted Mike about detailing the car in preparation for the competition.
Mike obliged and led a team of detailers in lightly reconditioning the car near the end of February, just weeks before the Concours. Following the detail, Mike hosted a livestream recapping the detail and showing off the car:
The XM-Turnpike Cruiser faced some stiff competition in the American Limited Production class with a 1953 Packard Balboa taking home top honors and ultimately took home the coveted Amelia Island Award. We’re proud to say our products had a part in securing such an august honor!
