Nano Coating Maintenance

Our nano coating lasts up to 3 years. It protects paint from staining, fading, etching, and it’s scratch resistant. It also produces a seriously amazing, cold, sharp gloss and is insanely hydrophobic. If  you’ve already used it on your car, you already know that. If you haven’t used it, try it out. Customers often ask us what they can do to help maintain and even prolong the longevity of Nano Resin. There are some basic rules, and some more specific maintenance instructions that apply to our nano coating.

Hand Wash Only

You just spent the time putting your nano coating on your car, including the prep steps and the actual application. It was a project, you worked hard and you want to treat this coating well. Don’t take it through an automatic car wash. Yes, the coating is scratch resistant, but automatic washes are never a good idea, coating or no coating. They cause scratching, marring, and they just don’t clean as well as a hand wash. Sometimes you might not feel like washing your own car with the two bucket system. That’s fine. Contact a local mobile detailer or hand wash business near you and have them do the dirty work. If your car gets exceptionally filthy because of the climate in which you live, wash it every week. If not, try to hold off and wash it every 3-4 weeks.

Use The Final Finish

Between washes, your vehicle can still be subtly grimy. Maybe you went out to dinner and ate a delicious cheeseburger, then got in your car and drove home prior to washing your hands. Your doorhandles have some burger grease on them, but the rest of your vehicle is clean. Don’t rewash the entire car. That’s too much work. Just spray and wipe the fingerprints off with The Final Finish and a clean, soft microfiber towel. It’s seriously that easy. This product works so well with Nano Resin that the coating and the spray come with every Kawasaki Ninja H2 & H2R to clean and protect the ever-so-sensitive mirror paint.

Layer Additional Protection on Top

The coating itself is a protective layer, but if you could add a protective layer ON TOP of the protective layer, why wouldn’t you? Nano Resin is compatible with any wax or sealant that you want to add on top of it. We like to top it off with PlasmaCoat because it changes the gloss from sharp and cold to a little warmer, all while adding extra protection to make the nano coating last longer. You can still use The Final Finish with a wax or sealant on top of the Nano Resin and it’ll work great. *Wait a full 7 days after applying Nano Resin to layer anything on top of it*

Maintenance Spray

We developed AdvanceCoat: Gloss specifically to care for Nano-Resin and our other coatings. With a simple spray and wipe application, AdvanceCoat: Gloss extends the life of your coating while adding intense shine and hydrophobic properties. All of the other maintenance steps still stand; hand wash only, touch up small dirty areas with The Final Finish, and you can still layer PlasmaCoat on the Nano. However, with AdvanceCoat: Gloss, the PlasmaCoat step isn’t necessary. Spray AdvanceCoat: Gloss on your paint 7 days after applying Nano-Resin and then reapply it every 6 months (or as often as you’d like). If you see your paint lacking the shine it had when you initially applied Nano, hit it with the maintenance spray. Get AdvanceCoat: Gloss on its own or in our Nano-Resin Kit

Don’t Put PPF Over a Nano Coating

If you’re a PPF person, that needs to be applies BEFORE the nano coating. Otherwise the paint protection film can’t bond correctly. You can totally put Nano on top of a clear bra! And then layer a sealant on top of the coating that’s on top of the PPF. Maybe that’s excessive, maybe not. It’s up to you.

Removal Is The Same as Prep

If the nano coating is on your daily driver, you should reapply it every 2 years. If Nano Resin is on a garage queen, reapply it every 3 years. To remove the coating, wash the car, clay bar it, buff it with a machine polisher and a light polish and then do an isopropyl alcohol wipe. After these steps, the paint will be ready for a re-application of Nano.

Other Considerations

There’s an emotional aspect to coating your car. You love your car, you want to keep it clean, beautiful, and healthy. Some people like to reapply their coating every year, even though it lasts much longer than that. Other prefer to wait until the absolute end of the coating’s lifespan to reapply. so after the 7-day curing period, do I go through wash-clay-polish prep again before applying the final finish wax or sealant or plasmacoat?

      Hi,
After the 7 day curing period, you can apply PlasmaCoat and you don’t need to clay or polish. Then use The Final Finish to clean small areas between washes.
