Last week the crew at FFIILLMM, LLC came out to Dr. Beasley’s HQ to capture us applying Dr. Beasley’s Matte Paint Coating Pro to a customer’s 2019 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG in designo Night Black Magno. This G-Wagen was an absolute beauty, so we made sure to get plenty of behind-the-scenes shots along the way.

Upon delivery, we immediately noticed the car was just covered in salt stains. A perfect example of why you should always have a new vehicle detailed—contamination and scratching can easily occur between the factory floor and final delivery! No harm done, thankfully—the stains came off in the pre-wash rinse.

Because you need a pristine surface before you can apply any ceramic coating, we did a thorough cleaning with Dr. Beasley’s Matte Body Wash to get rid of any contaminants remaining following the pre-wash. Thick snow foam is a marvel to look at, isn’t it?

Once the wash was complete, we hit the wheels and tires with Dr. Beasley’s Matte Wheel Cleanser, Dr. Beasley’s Matte Wheel Seal, and Dr. Beasley’s Matte Tire Conditioner. Even if they’re less noticeable, wheels and tires are just as important to clean and protect as the body. Almost more important, actually, considering their proximity to the road and all the break dust they accumulate.

After some spot cleaning with Dr. Beasley’s Matte Paint Cleanser, we were ready to start coating the G-Wagen. All of the necessary materials were assembled: Matte Paint Coating Pro Prep to prime the surface for bonding, distilled water to reduce friction during application, a foam block applicator, a suede cloth to wrap the applicator with, and two pipettes for siphoning the thick, 100% solids coating, Matte Paint Coating Pro.

The paintwork was first optimized for a durable bond with Matte Paint Coating Pro Prep, utilizing a simple spray and wipe technique to lay the necessary anchor points. From there, the paintwork was wetted with distilled water to reduce friction during the coating process, as mentioned above.

Once the Matte Paint Coating Pro application was complete, the vehicle was garaged so the coating could cure uninterrupted. But once that cure time was complete, FFIILLMM came back out to capture some glowing after shots.

Shockingly gorgeous, right? We could stare at that satin finish until the end of time. There’s definitely a reason Mercedes’ Magno paint is so highly regarded. Anyway, now that we’ve captured tons of high quality footage, FFIILLMM is hard at work editing it all into a complete package. Stay tuned these coming weeks for the full coating video!
