We recently had the pleasure of giving our “New Car Detail” service to one of the 520 Lucid Air Dream Editions in existence, and when it comes to electric vehicles, not even Tesla has come close to this kind of aesthetic excellence. We were truly impressed, even if there were some build quality quirks we noticed during our Detailer Review.

Below you can find a selection of the best photos we took during our time with this Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance!

Detailing the Lucid Air Dream Edition

One thing our shop foreman Christyan noticed while detailing the Lucid Air Dream Edition was the softness of the paint. This isn’t necessarily a “bad” thing — it just means you need to be more careful about protecting the paint. As Christyan mentions in the video, you’ll want to at the very least apply a ceramic coating to this kind of paint to help reduce scratching. If you can, adding paint protection film (PPF) is a big help as well.

The Vehicle as a Whole

Overall our Director of Success Chris Racana felt the Lucid Air Dream Edition is at its aesthetic best when considered as a whole. The form of this vehicle is unique yet familiar — Chris compared the look specifically to older French luxury cars like the Citroen DS. The look conveys serenity while suggesting intensity, helping to marry the luxury and performance aspects of this vehicle.

Trim and Badging

Unique to the Lucid Air Dream Edition is the beautiful trim and badging. Lucid Motors refers to the silvery trim along the pillars and on the side mirrors as “platinum”, and while it’s doubtful actual platinum was used in the fabrication, the look remains striking and decidedly high-end. Complimenting this exclusive trim are some striking badges specific to the Dream Edition, including the vehicle’s number under the driver’s side door.

Interior

The head and taillights of the Lucid Air Dream Edition are some of the most exciting aesthetic features on the vehicle. The headlights are narrow, providing a sleek, sporting look to match the sheer amount of light they produce. The taillights, on the other hand, have an aesthetic that Director of Success Chris Racana compared to the 1982 sci-fi classic Tron, with the light running across the back like a speeding light cycle.

The Interior

The interior of the Lucid Air Dream Edition brings together many hallmarks of luxury cars in the modern era — floating touch screen displays, limited tactile buttons, high end fabrics like Alcantara, a gigantic glass canopy, high-end leather with gorgeous stitching… it’s a lot to take in. All that may sound like a lot in terms of aesthetic maintenance, but as our shop foreman Christyan said, keeping these surfaces looking good is as simple as getting them protected with ceramic coatings and keeping a microfiber towel on hand for quick touch-ups.

So like we said, outside of a few odd, hard-to-notice problems with panel gaps and paint irregularities, the Lucid Air Dream Edition is a triumph of aesthetics. While a lot of these materials (including the soft paint) require specialized care and protection, it’s all easy to maintain with the right tools.
