Dr. Beasley’s 2019 Year In Review

Last Updated April 29, 2022

It’s been a jam-packed year of growth, fun and detailing for the Dr. Beasley’s crew and 2020 is shaping up to be no different. But before we move ahead into the new decade, let’s take a look back at what happened in 2019!

January

Water beading on a ceramic coating

We launched the first in our series of articles on hydrophobicity.

Basically, it all boils down to bead mobility. If a water bead can’t slide off a surface, it can do all sorts of horrible things once it dries. Stains, clear coat etching, contamination—it can be nasty stuff. You can read the full article here.

February

We protected the most expensive used ’94 Supra ever sold.

After getting a call from Chicago Northside Toyota, we detailed and ceramic coated the most expensive used 1994 Supra ever sold. Check out pics and video here.

March

YouTube video

Jim sits down with Chicago Auto Pros.

Dr. Beasley’s Founder and President Jim Lafeber sat down with Jason Otterness of Chicago Auto Pros to discuss the origins of Dr. Beasley’s and his own detailing philosophy. Read excerpts here.

April

Hyundai Kona Iron Man Special Edition outside Simon's Shine Shop after being detailed with Dr. Beasley's matte paint care products

We partnered with Hyundai.

Each satin-finished Kona Iron Man Edition sold came with a complementary Dr. Beasley’s Matte Paint Prescription and membership in our Kona VIP program.

May

We busted the ceramic spray myth.

Spray-and-wipe products claiming to offer nanoceramic protection are snake oil, pure and simple. You can read the full article here.

June

We hosted our first Authorized Detailer event.

Dr. Beasley’s Authorized Detailers came from far and wide to take an advanced ceramic nanocoating training course with Jim Lafeber. Everyone passed the course and received their “Master Detailer” (M.D.) certification.

July

We detailed the Official Vehicle of the Chicago Cubs.

Toyota partnered with us to help detail and maintain their “Official Vehicle of the Chicago Cubs” on display at Wrigley Field.

August

We coated BMWBlog’s 1M with Nano-Resin Pro.

The folks at BMWBlog asked us to protect their prized 1M coupe with Dr. Beasley’s Nano-Resin Pro, and we had an awesome time getting photos as we carried out the treatment. See more here.

September

We released five new products.

Panel Prime: a polish residue remover. Total Decon and Matte Decon: chemical decontaminants. Concrete Remover: dried concrete dissolver. Fire Block: car cover flame retardant.

October

We protected a brand new Aventador SVJ.

What an utterly sick car this was. We had a blast getting shots and detailing this beauty to the nines.

November

We hosted another Ales & Details.

This time around we had over 20 attendees detailing two cars at once. It was an amazing time and we’ll be hosting these events monthly in 2020.

December

We created a custom-formulated premium hand wash.

As a special thank-you to our distributors and Authorized Detailers, Jim formulated premium, plant-based hand soaps in two scents. The gifts were such a hit we made them available for sale on our site. Check it out!
