Nano Surface Primers don’t discriminate. Any coating, be it Dr. Beasley’s or another’s, can and will reap the benefits of NSPs. This makes them a staple for any coating installer — no matter what brand you (or your customer) opts for, you know NSPs will get the finish corrected and ready to fullest possible extent.
Michael Lambert at The Shine Shop Detailing learned this first hand when he used Nano Surface Primers to install Modesta’s BC-04 ceramic coating on a rare 1999 Nissan Skyline sporting Midnight Purple paint.
Michael’s customer loves rare 1990s supercars (think anything in the Fast & Furious movies) so when he got wind of a 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec in Midnight Purple II paint available in Europe two years ago, he jumped on it immediately and got to work bringing it to the States.
“After a respray on the hood/bumpers and attainment of NHTSA waiver and EPA compliance release, this Skyline GTR V-Spec actually became one of only three known to be street legal in the USA,” Michael informed us. “That was two years ago — now he’s ready to get it corrected and protected.”
Thankfully the paint was kept in good condition. “Most of the defects were light wash marks,” Michael said, “but there were also some swirl marks on the bumpers and some overspray on the hood, both probably coming from the body shop work.”
Once the overspray was clayed and the paint was decontaminated, Michael got to work using NSP 95 and a Meguiar’s microfiber pad on roof. “This went very smoothly,” Michael said,”but I had to switch things up when I got to the resprayed hood — the clear coat had an almost sticky quality.” Michael swapped out the microfiber for a yellow Rupes foam polishing pad, which immediately delivered better results. Michael then tackled the resprayed bumpers with the same combo.
With the bulk of the paint defects corrected, Michael went for the NSP 45 and a soft foam pad to finish down the previous step. “The 95/45 combo really brought out some richer, darker tones in the Midnight Purple II paint,” Michael observed. “The paint looked so good, in fact, my wife asked if I had already coated it!”
When it came time to coat, Michael felt confident Modesta would pair well with the Nano Surface Primer correction work. “I was already using NSPs with Graphene coatings, so it stood to reason they’d go well with Modesta,” Michael said. “Though I have to admit, I’m not sure I was prepared for just how well they paired. I’ve never had a smoother application.” Dr. Beasley’s is gearing up to take things a step farther, too — they’re willing to warranty Modesta coatings that were applied using NSPs. “That’s how confident I am in these products,” said Jim Lafeber, President & Founder of Dr. Beasley’s.
Needless to say the customer was ecstatic with the work done and will undoubtedly be coming back for maintenance visits. “NSPs are quickly becoming a go-to in my paint correction arsenal,” Michael reflects. “No matter the coating, I know I’m getting a smooth correction experience and the customer is getting protection that’s built to last.”
